arm candy

Fall 2011 bags are here, and you best be getting excited. After waiting months and months (and months) from seeing them on the runway in spring, you can finally have your pick of the gorgeous leathers and minks coming out. From the classic Diane von Furstenberg to the edgy Marc Jacobs, you can be sure there is something out there that will be your favourite piece of arm candy for the next few months.

Sorry this is a couple days late!

high class

There are some majorly coveted pieces this season, and this editorial in Vogue US September issue featuring Anja Rubik does an (almost) incredible job showing them all off. From the shoe that every editor wants their hand on by Alexander Wang to Riccardo Tisci's mink bag, these are some key pieces you'll want in your closet... NOW. Or perhaps a slightly cheaper version, for all you broke girls like me out there.

Of course this is only a little sampling of some to die for pieces, so tomorrow or the next day, I'll show you some of the bags I've had my eye on (hint: DvF) and shoes I've had bookmarked for weeks, just so I can take a quick peek at them. The life of being poor and hopelessly in love with fashion is almost heartbreaking.

Hey Joe

It's always a really exciting time of week when my roommates and I venture out to Loblaws. Not just because I enjoy grocery shopping trips, but because Loblaws is home to one of my favourite places. And I am going to share this favourite place with you.
While I'm sure you've all seen the catchy commercials ("Oh you pretty things, don't you know you're driving your mamas and papas insane?"), I'm truly concerned that you don't take Joe Fresh seriously. I mean, a clothing line in a grocery store? Really?

Well, guess what.
It is very, very serious. And it is very, very awesome.

It's safe to say that Joe is one of my favourite places to acquire my basic fashion needs. The line is simple and clean, and full of great fitting, comfortable pieces. If you're looking for basic tops, Joe is your go-to. Affordable, stylish (yes, it's actually stylish), and versatile.

So, while its location next to the frozen goods may throw you off a bit, don't underestimate the quality of Joe Fresh. With a variety of clothing and accessories to choose from, Joe is quickly becoming well known and respected. Next time you're grabbing dinner, take a peek. I guarantee you'll like what you see.

Love, Sarah

the worst thing

About a year ago, I posted about the horror of sequin Uggs that Oprah was promoting on her show. They were an ugly take on an already too popular boot that did nothing for anyone's outfit.

I didn't think anything could get worse until I saw these the other day:

These go by the name of 'Bootie Pies' and they are made of suede and faux sheepskin lining.

The company touts them as being the boot to wear in winter to keep your pedicure from being ruined. But really?? Is that the best sales pitch you can come up with for boots that cost a hundred bucks a pop that look like this. Hell, I'd walk home from the salon in the free flip flops they give you than wear these on my feet in the middle of winter.

What do you think? Am I being too harsh or is this going too far in the obsession of the Ugg boot?
